Doula Support
I provide doula care from early pregnancy throughout the postpartum period. Because no perinatal journey is the same, I offer both full spectrum and flexible packages. Consultations are always at no charge. Contact me to set up a conversation.
What is a full spectrum doula?

Prenatal Doula
We dive right in together. I support clients throughout their pregnancy, starting as early as you wish. During this period, we get to know each other as we prepare for your birth. I work with you on birth education, labor and delivery plans, pregnancy mind and body care, and postpartum preparation. My goal is for you to feel cared for, calm, and prepared.

Birth Doula
When you go into labor, I’m there for you. I meet you at your home or hospital and typically stay until two hours after your birth. I am one of your support people, your advocate in the room, and I help set the scene for your birth to feel as authentically yours as possible. When you are laboring, I offer both physical and emotional support for your chosen methods and interventions.

Postpartum Doula
When you are first home with your new baby, it can feel overwhelming, magical, and exhausting. I’m there to help you transition into this stage of life. I primarily focus on supporting the parents and offer practical services such as lactation support, sleep strategies, and food prep and nutrition. In addition, I’m available to be a nonjudgemental listener, prepare special rituals, and help make sense of early newborn days.
I’m glad you’re here. I’m Laura.
I became a doula to help families experience pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with as much clarity, joy, and meaning as possible. I am drawn to birthwork because the perinatal period was transformative for me, and it opened my eyes to how much people are expected to navigate without enough support, education, or ritual. As I learned about the work doulas do, I was moved by the creativity and depth of care doulas offer - practical, emotional, educational, and deeply human support. I was especially attracted to the intersection of healthcare and holistic care that doulas provide alongside of medical providers and complimentary practitioners. Studies have shown that outcomes of labor and delivery with a doula are better than without one. It’s also intuitive: having a strong advocate, a knowledgeable mother, and a community of birthworkers to support your perinatal journey should lead to birth with less injury, less intervention, and more connection with your family.
For the last 20 years, I have worked for nonprofit organizations with missions related to the arts, healthcare, and education. For a period, I worked as a director of a center in a hospital for people with chronic illness, and loved being in a clinical setting. I am also an active visual artist and run a monthly mail club focused on art and caretaking. My work as an artist and creative, combined with my dedication to advocacy and healthcare, made doula work a natural fit for me and my experience. I bring institutional and healthcare knowledge to my work as a doula, and also creativity that shows up everywhere from problem solving to pregnancy printmaking
As your doula, I am patient, kind, and open to your background and experiences. I offer nonjudgemental support for your choices, your preferences, and your ideas. I will provide you with evidence-based information and resources, and am available to talk deeply about personal decisions that often arise during pregnancy. From experience, I know that difficult things can happen during the perinatal period, and I am a doula who will walk the road with you when both good and hard things come up. I am someone who can sit with uncertainty, adapt when things change, and stay alongside you through whatever unfolds.
I’d love to talk with you to learn more about what you’re looking for and to describe my services.
My Services
-
For many clients, it makes most sense to seek doula support throughout their pregnancy and postpartum period. During pregnancy, I work to learn about your hopes, fears, and wishes for your birth and postpartum period, and then during those, we work together to realize an experience that is joyful, supported, and meaningful (even when things happen that are outside of our control).
When you engage my services to be your full spectrum doula, I am available to you by phone and text 24/7, we meet 2-3 times during pregnancy, I am at your birth, and am then available for multiple postpartum visits to your home. Please contact me to have an initial conversation to see if I’m the right fit for you.

Thanks to the Rhode Island Doula Reimbursement Bill that passed in 2022, many residents of the state have access to insurance reimbursable doula services. I am currently on track to be able to accept insurance for births that happen in early summer 2026.
